Leisurely Sulawesi, Flores and Bali 16 Days/ 15 Nights

Day 01  Airport – Makasar    Transfer from the airport and take a city tour inc Fort of Tunipallangga (Fort Rotterdam), built in the 16th. century; Paotere, the Pinisi (Buginese schooner) harbour and  Somba Opu Shopping centre for best quality of silver and wooden handicraft

Day 02  Makasar – Toraja (BLD)   Leave hotel for Toraja highlands, “land of the heavenly kings”. Eight hours drive along magnificent mountain passes and through Bugis villages with typical houses on poles. Lunch in a seafood restaurant in Pare Pare. Afternoon coffee stop at Bambapuang, where are spectacular panoramic views. Late afternoon, arrive Toraja, a remote island village in Sulawesi’s mountainous centre.  Dinner and overnight at hotel in Rantepao (the capital of Toraja Region)

Day 03  Toraja (BLD)   After breakfast, full day sightseeing inc cliff-side stone graves at Lemo; on to Sangalla village. Lunch at a local restaurant in Rantepao. Afternoon visit natural burial cave and traditional woodcarving village. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 04  Toraja (BLD)   Full-day tour inc Palawa, Toraja’s oldest village; Sa’dan, traditional weaving village & Bori, with its ancient megalithic stone. Afternoon, visit the traditional village of Marante. Lunch in Rantepao. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 05  Toraja – Airport – Bali – Tanjung Benoa (BL)   After breakfast at Hotel, return to Makassar. Lunch served at Pare-Pare, plus refreshments en-route then direct transfer to the Airport for onward flight to your next destination.

Arrive at International Airport in Bali, to be greeted and transfer from airport to hotel for overnight.

Day 06  Bali – Airport – Labuan Bajo (B)   After breakfast, guide will pick you up for morning flight to Labuan Bajo. On arrival transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Batu Cermin Cave, Ujung fishermen village and the local harbour for sunset. Dinner served at local restaurant before return to hotel for overnight.

Day 07  Labuan Bajo (BLD)   Early morning transfer to the harbour to board local motorboat to Rinca to see the Komodo dragons in their natural environment. Afterward to Komodo Island by boat, with lunch on board. Afternoon on Komodo Island with chance to swim & snorkel at Pink Beach before returning to Labuan Bajo. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 08  Labuan Bajo – Ruteng (BLD)   After breakfast, drive to Ruteng with stops in Cancar to view the spiderweb-style rice terraces and Ruteng Puu traditional village. Late afternoon arrive Rueng and check in to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 09  Ruteng – Bajawa (BLD)

Morning visiting the local market then proceed to Bajawa with stops in Rana Mese Lake and Aimere to see the locals making palm wine. Afternoon arrive Bajawa and check in at Bintang Wisata Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10  Bajawa – Moni (BLD)

Morning hiking to Wawo Muda volcano to see twin colour lakes. Then drive to Moni with stops at Bena megalithic village, Boawae and Wolotopo traditional village. Afternoon arriving in Moni and check in at Moni Eco Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11  Moni – Kelimutu – Maumere (BLD)

Early morning visit to Kelimutu to see its picturesque three colour lakes. Proceed to Maumere with stops in Moni local market, Jopu traditional village and Sikka weaving village. Afternoon arriving in Maumere and check in at Sylvia Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 12  Maumere – Airport – Bali – Ubud (B)

Morning visits local market and Wuring fishermen village before transferring to the airport for your flight back to Bali.

Arrive at International Airport in Bali and transfer from airport to hotel to overnight.

Day 13  Ubud (BL)

Today you will travel the back roads, seeing the Balinese people going about their daily lives and seeing some less visited parts of the island. Hidden in forest you will find one of the most beautiful temples in Bali, Pura Batukaru, originally the state temple for the area, its small pagodas are very spiritual in design and feel. The meandering drive to the village of Jatiluwih ("really, really beautiful”), is through magnificent scenery. There is plenty of time to photograph the area and village where you will have a simple local lunch. Continue on to the mountain area of Danau Bratan, visiting Bedugul and Pura Ulun Danu Bratan on the way. A beautiful & important temple dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters is built on a small island near the edge of a lake and is one of the most iconic images in Bali.

Day 14  Ubud (BD)

Pick up at 3pm today and head off on guided paddy expedition where you will learn about the most important food in Bali - rice! These beautiful paddy fields are the lifeblood of most villages in the area and your guide will take you in to the heart of them to show how they work. Return to the village, to be warmly welcomed into a Balinese family and expertly guided by your private chef, who will help you to create delicious authentic Balinese dishes. Before your meal you will visit the family temple for a blessing, then you can relax with a cool drink in your own private bale (roofed patio) overlooking the stunning countryside and enjoy your meal!

Java, Flores and Bali Adventure  16 Days/ 15 Nights

Day 01  Train Station to Surabaya By train travelling from Yogyakarta to Surabaya and transfer to hotel for overnight.

Day 02  Surabaya to Malang (BL)   Explore the city of Surabaya, visiting an old Chinese Temple & wander around the quaint Chinese shops and houses, visit the Arab Quarter, the only one in Indonesia, with exotic spices and vegetables. On to the House of Sampoerna, a museum, art gallery, souvenir shop and famous for its cigarette factory. It also has a very nice restaurant, so you may have your lunch or dinner there (at your own expense) and enjoy delicious Indonesian cuisine. Afterwards transfer to Malang to overnight.

Day 03  Malang (B)  After breakfast at the hotel, you will explore the city of Malang, the second largest city in East Java, with wide roads and improved parks and also many colonial buildings.

Day 04  Malang – Bromo – Ijen (BL)   At midnight you leave for the volcano with your guide and drive to the base of Mount Penanjakan and transfer to a private 4WD for the bumpy journey up to the view point. You will have the opportunity to have a hot drink and hire a puffer jacket from some enterprising locals for $1-2 before climbing the steps that take you to the viewing platform. Overlooking the mountains, watching the sunrise, you will experience one of the most awe-inspiring and memorable vistas in the world. From here you may wish to venture in to the old caldera and climb to the crater of Mount Bromo itself. Afterwards transfer to Probolinggo to board the train and transfer to Ijen for overnight.

Day 05  Ijen (BL)  After an early breakfast, you will be driven through the rural countryside around Mount Ijen, passing by clove and coffee plantations to Pal Tuding (ranger post), and the trek begins from there. The Ijen plateau is a spectacular area of volcanic activity and one of the great natural wonders of Indonesia, which you will experience on this trek. To reach Ijen Plateau it may take approx 2 hours and the route is very steep at times. It is advisable to wear appropriate trekking attire boots or trainers as the route is steep at times. You will trek through twisted and complex trails, a quite challenging path, but your hard work will be paid off once you see the wonderful panoramic view from the view point. The crater and the lake has extraordinarily vivid aqua blue coloured water. Evidence of the volcanic activity is everywhere, with steaming water and brilliant yellow crystal line sulphur deposits. The trek will end as you arrive back in Pal Tuding, where your vehicle is waiting to take you back to your hotel.

Day 06  Ijen to Pemuteran, Bali by ferry (B)  After breakfast drive to Ketapang, from where you make the short trip to Gilimanuk in Bali by ferry. Following transfer to Pemuteran.

Day 07  Pemuteran (B)  Day at Leisure

Day 08  Pemuteran - Tanjung Benoa (BL)   Today travel the back roads, seeing the Balinese people going about their daily lives and seeing some less visited parts of the island. Drive to the village of Jatiluwih through magnificent scenery. Famous for the panorama of its rice field terraces, the word Jatiluwih literally means "really, really beautiful" and there is plenty of time to photograph the area and village where you will have a simple local lunch. Continue on to the cooler mountain area of Danau Bratan, visiting the market town of Bedugul and Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, a very beautiful and important temple that was founded in the 17th century and dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters. It is built on a small island near the edge of a lake and is one of the most iconic images in Bali.

Day 09  Bali – Airport – Labuan Bajo (B)  Breakfast and transfer to Airport, flight to Labuanbajo. On arrival transfer to your hotel. Afternoon visit Batu Cermin Cave and Ujung fishermen village and the local harbour to view its picturesque sunset. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for overnight.

Day 10  Labuan Bajo (BLD)  Early morning transfer to the harbour to board a local boat to Rinca to see the activities of Komodo dragons in their own environment, then sail to Komodo Island by boat, with lunch served on board. Afternoon trekking to Banunggulung, Komodo Island with chance to swim and snorkel at Pink Beach before returning to Labuan Bajo. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 11  Labuan Bajo – Airport – Bali – Ubud (B)  After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back to Bali and transfer from airport to your hotel for overnight.

Day 12  Ubud (BD)  Pick up from hotel lobby at 3pm today and head off on guided paddy expedition where you will learn about the most important food in Bali - rice! These beautiful paddy fields are the lifeblood of most villages in the area and your guide will take you in to the heart of them to show how they work. Return to village, to be warmly welcomed into a Balinese family compound and expertly guided by your private chef, who will help you create delicious authentic Balinese dishes in the outdoor kitchen you will be guided on making some famous Balinese dishes. Before your meal you will visit the family temple for a blessing before you can relax with a cool drink in your own private bale (roofed patio) overlooking the stunning countryside and enjoy your meal!

Java Explorer (5 Days/4 Nights)

Day 01  UK – Jakarta   Arrive at International Airport in Jakarta, to be greeted and transfer from airport to hotel for overnight.

Day 02  Jakarta – Bandung (BL)   Full day tour of the old Batavia area, inc. ancient spice port with about a 100 schooners moored here, the National Museum, etc. After lunch travel to Bandung in the highlands with a cooler climate. Overnight.

Day 03  Bandung – Yogyakarta (BL)   Travel by train to Yogyakarta, the cultural capital of Java.  Arrive in Yogyakarta and visit the stunning Prambanan temple before going to your hotel. Overnight in Yogyakarta

Day 04  Yogyakarta (BL)    Early morning visit Borobudur temple, dating from the 8th century, to see sunrise. Borobudur is the largest Buddhist sanctuary in the world & covers five kilometres with a stone area of over 60,000 square metres. The nine-stories construct a route to the Buddhist enlightenment.  Afterwards visit Candirejo, for a horse & carriage ride visiting locals who show their daily lives and see how spices, such as vanilla and pepper grow.  Overnight in Yogyakarta.

Day 05  Yogyakarta – Airport (B) After breakfast transfer to airport for your onward flight.

Day 13  Ubud (BL)  Ubud is a town in central Bali, far from the glamourous party scene of Kuta. Located amongst rice fields and steep ravines the town has a relaxing and calming ambience, and famous as an arts and crafts hub with many local and international artists residing in the area. Your visit to Ubud on this full day trip will give you the opportunity to browse through the galleries of prominent Balinese and European artists, where you will experience the collaboration of Balinese and European techniques at the Antonio Blanco Museum. After that you can watch how the craftsmen work on gold and silver at Celuk village, you may also visit the woodcarving galleries in Mas and put your bargaining skills to the test in the local market. Also, visit the main attraction in Ubud, the Ubud Palace, where the descendants of the last king of Ubud live today. Enjoy a scenic view of rice field terraces in Tegallalang on your way back from Ubud, stopping at Tampak Siring, where a palace was built by Indonesia’s former president Soekarno, and at the holy spring in the Puri Tirta Empul temple. After that you can make a stop at Batuan to see some traditional Balinese houses before returning to your hotel.

Day 14  Ubud (BL)  Today's activity is white water rafting down the spectacular Ayung River. An eight kilometre stretch of back to back Class 2 & 3 rapids. This is an action packed and wonderfully scenic one and a half hour journey followed by a hot buffet at a private restaurant overlooking classic rice field scenery with a typically Balinese, mountainous backdrop.

Day 15  Ubud (B)  Day at Leisure

Day 16  Ubud – Airport (B)   Have breakfast and at the appropriate time your guide will pick you up and transfer you to Airport for your flight home.
